Lakshmipureeswarar Temple, Thirunindriyur, Mayiladuthurai
Lakshmipureeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Thirunindriyur Village in Mayiladuthurai Taluk in Mayiladuthurai District of Tamil Nadu. The Temple is also called as Mahalakshmeeswarar Temple. Presiding Deity is called as Lakshmipureeswarar / Mahalakshmeeswarar / Parikeswarar and Mother is called as Ulaga Nayaki / Loka Nayaki. This Temple is considered as one of the Mada Temples built by Kochengata Chola, an early Chola Emperor.
This Temple is considered as one of the shrines of the 276 Paadal Petra Sthalams glorified in the early medieval Thevaram hymns. This Temple is the 73rd Devara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 19th sthalam on the north side of river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu. This Temple is considered as one of the 44 Paadal Petra Sthalams where the Moovar (Thirugnana Sambanthar, Appar and Sundarar) had rendered their Pathigams.

History
The Temple is believed to be built in 3rd Century CE. It is believed that this temple is considered as one of the Mada Temples built by Kochengata Chola, an early Chola Emperor. The temple was reconstructed in granite by the Later Cholas and extensively renovated by Vijayanagara Kings, Marathas, Nayak rulers and Nattukottai Chettiyars. The Temple has only one inscription dating back to the reign of Rajaraja Chola II. This Temple is under the control of Dharumapuram Adheenam. The place was called as Anniyur and Nindriyur in ancient times.

(Aug-Sep), Aippasi Skanda Shashti & Annabishekam (Oct-Nov), Thiru Karthikai
(Nov-Dec), Margazhi Thiruvadhirai (Dec-Jan) and Masi Shivrathri (Feb-Mar) are
the festivals celebrated here. Monthly pradosham is also observed regularly.

Anusham starrers are advised to worship Lord Shiva at least once every year.
