Narayana Perumal Temple, Sirukundram, Chengalpattu
Lakshmi Narayana Perumal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Sirukundram Village in Thiruporur Taluk in Chengalpattu District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding deity is called as Lakshmi Narayana. He is gracing the devotees with his consort Lakshmi on his lap.
Legends
It is said that once, the village hosted seven temples. However
most of the temples were lost to nature fury barring Sirukundram Vanmeeganathar
Temple. The Lingams from four temples can be seen in Sirukundram Vanmeeganathar Temple. The Village was called as Sivan Kundram due to the presence of these
Shiva temples but later got corrupted to Sirukundram.
The Temple
This temple is facing towards east with an entrance
arch. It is located below a small hillock. The entrance arch has stucco image
of Lakshmi Narayana. Stone Dhwaja Sthambam, Balipeedam and Garudazhwar can be
seen immediately after the entrance arch facing the sanctum. The Sanctum Sanctorum
consists of Sanctum, Ardha Mandapam and Mukha Mandapam. The Sanctum houses the
presiding deity, Lakshmi Narayana. He is gracing the devotees with his consort
Lakshmi on his lap. Idols of Anjaneya, Ramanuja, Nammazhvar, Thirumangai Azhvaar
and Vishwaksena can be seen in the temple premises. are also housed in the
temple.

Connectivity
The Temple is located at about 2.5 Kms from Sirukundram
Bus Stop, 14 Kms from Thiruporur, 14 Kms from Chengalpattu, 16 Kms from
Chengalpattu Junction Railway Station and 43 Kms from Chennai Airport. The Temple
is situated on Thiruporur to Chengalpattu route. Sirukundram is well connected
by bus services from Chengalpattu and Tambaram. MTC Bus No X523 from Thiruvanmiyur to Perunthandalam passes through this place.
