Marundeeswarar Temple, Vada Iluppai, Kanchipuram
Marundeeswarar
Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva located at Vada Iluppai, 16 kms to the
west of Kancheepuram on the banks of River Palar (on the road connecting Kanchi
and Arcot). Vada Iluppai is also celebrated as "Madhuga
Shethram", "Dindima Kavi Shethram" and “Brahma
Vidhyapuram". Lord Maruntheeswarar faces west, which is itself an
exceptional factor. The name of the Lord denotes “a doctor who can rescue
mankind from all diseases". The ancient temple is getting spruced up and
preparations are under way for consecrating Swarna Akarshana Bhairavar and
other deities. This is one of the rare places where Swarna Akarshana Bhairavar
is seen with his consort.
In this
temple, the image of Anjaneya directly faces Dakshinamurti, a rare feature. The
Brindavanam of the great Veda Vidwan, Bramasri Kumaraswami Deekshithar is found
in this place. Work on the Ishwarya, Anjaneya and Dharma Sastha shrines is on
as also the construction of the compound wall. Devotees perform puja on Sundays
to Hanuman, and he appears in their dreams and offers them solution from all
difficulties. Lord Anjaneya and Guru Dakshinamurthy face each other, which is a
good remedy for all problems created by Lord Saneeswara. This exceptional
arrangement is a good cure for delayed marriages, doshas in baby birth etc. The
combined blessings of Guru Bhagwan and Lord Hanuman are a strong defence for
human kind to come out of all adversities.
Arunagirinathar
has sung in praise of Vada Iluppai as "Anybody who wishes freedom from
rebirth should eternally worship Vada Iluppai". This sanctified
temple has been visited by many Gnanis, Gurus, Saints, and Vidhwans etc. Maha
Periyava of Kanchi had stayed at this sacred place many times, including in
1984, before Vasantha Panchami on his way to Kanchipuram. As per the words of Shri Chandrasekara
Saraswathi Swamigal, Goddess Kamakshi lives perpetually here and offers her
Omnipotent blessings to mankind. Eminent saints like Tapovanam Gnanaananda
Swamigal, Sheshadri Mahan, Poondi Mahan, and Sri Arunagirinadha Swamigal have
offered their pujas here. The ancient temple is getting spruced up and it
is planned to install Sri Chakra for Kamakshi Amman as per the Sri Vidya Mantra
Sastra.
