Mahadevar Temple, Mahadevamalai, Kankuppam, Vellore

Mahadevar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Mahadevamalai Hills in Kankuppam Village in Vellore District of Tamilnadu. This Temple is located to the west of Katpadi. The Temple is said to be 500 years old, the temple was built by a trader of the Pandya kingdom.

The Temple
This is a beautiful hilltop temple for Lord Shiva and there is a motorable Ghat road till the hilltop. Both the lingam and Nandi are Swayambu. Siva’s consort here is Kamakshi. A huge statue of Dakshina Murti has been installed and a meditation hall built.





Connectivity
The Temple is located at about 1.5 Kms from Mahadevamalai Bus Stand, 15 Kms from Virinjipuram, 17 Kms from Gudiyattam, 26 Kms from Katpadi, 7 Kms from Kavanur Railway Station, 30 Kms from Vellore, 155 Kms from Chennai Airport and 164 Kms from Chennai. This temple is located on the Katpadi – Gudiyattam Route. There is a motorable Ghat road till the hilltop. From Gudiyatham town, the welcome arch to Mahadeva mount is situated at a distance of 15 Kms on the way to Katpadi. Nearest Railway Station is located at Kavanur and Nearest Airport is located at Chennai.
