Venkatesa Perumal Temple
is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located in Sirudavur Village in
Thiruporur Taluk in Chengalpattu District of Tamil Nadu. The Temple is situated on Thiruporur to Thirukazhukundram
route. The Temple is in ruined state.
History
The Temple was built by Parthivendravarman, a Pallava
chieftain, under the suzerainty of Cholas. The presiding deity, Venkatesa
Perumal, was called as Thirumetrali Ninrarulina Perumal and Parasurama
Vinnagara Azhwar in the inscriptions found in the temple.
Inscriptions
There is an inscription of Parthivendravarman refers to
services conducted at the temple of Thirumetrali Ninrarulina Perumanadigal.
Another inscription records the temple name as Satti Vinnagaram. There is an
undated inscription of Rajendra Chola II in the temple. It records the gift of
lands by Pudali Dandaya Kramavittan for maintaining a perpetual lamp in the
temple. There is an inscription of Maravarman Vira Pandya recording the gift of
land by the assembly of Paiyanoor for maintaining a perpetual lamp in the
temple. There is an inscription of Rajaraja Chola I in the temple recording
gift of land made to the Lord Palaipani of Karimangalam in Kiliyurnadu.

26 Kms from Chengalpattu Junction Railway Station, 42 Kms from Tambaram, 50 Kms
from Chennai Airport and 52 Kms from Chennai. Sirudavur
is situated on Thiruporur – Thirukazhukundram Road. Buses are available from Tambaram
and Thiruporur.
