Narasimha Temple, Anthili, Thirukkovilur – The Temple

Narasimha Temple, Anthili, Thirukkovilur – The Temple
The temple is built on a rock in Garuda shape. The hillock is shaped like the mighty bird with wings spread out ready for take-off. It is also interesting that the back of the hillock looks like a sleeping lion. The small temple atop it houses Sri Lakshmi Narasimha in the same form and size as he appeared before Garudalwar. It is also noteworthy that the rays of Sun God fall on the presiding deity on all 365 days of the year.

There is an idol of Anjaneya in the Temple premises. It is believed that this idol is one of the 729 Hanuman Idols installed by Sri Vyasaraja Theertharu. Sculptures inside the temple shows the temple might have been renovated by Madhwa Saints of Karnataka. Paranur Sri Krishna Premi Swamigal renovated the temple and the kumbabhishekam took place in 2004.
