Satya Narayana Temple,
Nanganallur, Chennai
Satya Narayana Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to
Lord Vishnu located at Nanganallur, a well-known locality in Chennai City
in Tamil Nadu. It is one of the few Satya Narayana temples in Chennai. This
Temple is located adjacent to Rajeswari Temple. Both these temples are connected to each other. Nanganallur is
called Mini Kancheepuram because of the presence of many temples.
The Temple
The temple is facing west. Garuda, Balipeedam and flag
staff are located facing towards the sanctum. Presiding Deity is called as
Satya Narayana and is facing west. He is housed in the sanctum. Satyanarayana
Perumal is installed on 8 yanthras inscribed with eight letters. Sri Lakshmi
normally seen by the side of Perumal is present here in the chest of Perumal
who is in a standing posture facing west. Navagrahas, normally not seen in
Perumal temples are seen here in a straight line which is unique.
Panchamuga Anjaneyar is also present here. The idols of
Brahma, Vishnu and Ganesh are also found as the Koshta idols in the temple,
which is again unique. There is a shrine for the utsava idols of Ramanuja,
Manavala Mamuni, Nammalvar and Tirumangai Alwar in the Temple premises. The
stucco images of Ashta Dikpalas such as Varun, Vayu, Kubera, Nriti, Yama,
Ishana, Indra and Agni along with their respective vahanas are found in the
pillars in the prakara.
Temple Opening Time
The temple remains open from 06.00 AM to 12.00 Noon and
05.30 PM to 09.00 PM.

Those who are unable to do Satyanarayana Pooja at home
can participate in the pooja here to get the benefit of doing the Satyanarayana
pooja. It is believed that by worshiping Lord Sri Sathya Narayana Perumal, one
will be relieved from Sarba Dhosham.
