Uthara Guruvayurappan Temple, Nanganallur, Chennai
Uthara Guruvayurappan Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located at Nanganallur, a well-known locality in Chennai City in Tamil Nadu. The construction is very similar to Guruvayur temple of Kerala, not with wood but with concrete in Kerala architecture. This temple is situated on the way to Viswaroopa Anjaneyar Temple in Ram Nagar of Nanganallur. Nanganallur can be called as the Chinna Kanchipuram of Chennai due to the numerous temples it has in and around.
Legends
An ardent devotee of Lord Guruvayurappan, Tapsvi Bilwamangal had a divine vision of the Lord who assured him that a temple would be built in Nanganallur. This temple came to be called as Uttara Guruvayurappan Temple since it is north of the original temple in Kerala and have the main deity Sri Guruvayurappan.
History
Uttara Guruvayurappan temple was built in the early 1970s. The temple is being managed by a private trust Guruvayurappan Asthika Samajam. The Trust also runs an Ayurveda Vaidyasala. The temple is based on Kerala architecture and the kumbabhishekam was conducted on April 17, 1975.
