Pariyur – The Temple
The Temple is west facing with
three tiered Rajagopuram. The temple is built completely with marble stones. Presiding Deity is called as Amarapaneeswarar / Amara
Vidanga Peruman and is facing west. He is housed in the sanctum in the form
of Lingam. The rays of Sun fall on the Lord two days in the month of March at
Sunset time offering his worship. Brightness of the rays fall fully on the
Linga. The Avudayar on which Linga is placed is on the right side.
Mother is called as Soundaranayaki.
She is housed in a separate shrine, situated to the left of the sanctum. Mother
Soundaravalli graces the devotees in a standing form. In between the sanctum
and mother shrine, Lord Shanmuga Subramanya graces with his peacock vehicle
with its face turning left. Valli and Deivanai are with Muruga. This is known
as Somaskanda form.
Around the Goshta wall of
Muruga shrine, five forms of the Lord as Karthikeya, Balasubramanya, Dhandayudhapani,
Kumara Subramaniya and Bala Muruga can be seen. There are also shrines for Lord
Sundareswarar and Mother Meenakshi in the prakara facing east. Shrines of Bhairava,
Durga, Brahma, Lingodbhava, Navagrahas, Vinayaga, Panchalingas and 63 Saivite
Nayanmars are in the prakara. Lord Vinayaka in the temple is praised as Anukkai
Vinayaka.
Lord Dakshinamurthy graces in
a sitting form under the banyan tree on the sanctum wall facing south. On the
opposite side, Lord Subramaniya graces in a standing form with six hands in an
obedient style respecting his father in the form of Lord Dakshinamurthy. Sun
God is facing east in the Navagraha shrine. Sthala Vriksham is Magizham. There
is well inside the temple premises, considered as Theertham associated with
this Temple.
