Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Elangarkudi Village near Koradacherry in Thiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Periyanayagi Amman. Urchavar is Shanmuganathar with Mother Valli and Deivanai, Sthala Vriksham is Vilwa and Theertham is Surya Theertham (a well). This is one of the 108 Shiva temples built by Chola kings. 
Legends
It is believed that Pandavas of Mahabharata fame worshipped Lord Shiva of this temple.  
History
The Kailasanathar temple was constructed by Cholas during the Chola period. There was a big house in the village called Aranmanai house near Aranmanai Kulam(tank). This is one of the 108 Shiva temples built by Cholas. As the temple was subjected to damages due to negligence, the family of one Muthiah Gurukkal took care of it, collected donations, renovated and restored the glory of the temple. Odhuvars – well versed in Thevaram - Tiruvasagam hymns are brought to the place with residential facilities etc. Vedas were taught to temple priests in the year 1890. Keeping Kailasanathar temple as a centre, other temples were also built here.
The Temple
Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Periyanayagi Amman. Urchavar is Shanmuganathar with Mother Valli and Deivanai, Sthala Vriksham is Vilwa and Theertham is Surya Theertham (a well). Lords Vinayaka, Muruga and the presiding deity are facing east. Navagrahas in a shrine with a Vimana are in the outer prakara. Kala Bhairava is facing south and Mother Peria Nayaki Amman the south. The space of the Mandapam is spacious enough for 200 devotees. There are six Kalasas in the temple.
Temple Opening Time
The Temple remains open from 9.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m and from 4.00 p.m. to 8.00 p.m.
Festivals
Fortnightly Pradosha pujas, Tiruvadhirai - Arudra Darshan in December-January, Masi Magam and Maha Shivarathri in February-March and Panguni Uthiram in March-April are the festivals celebrated in the temple.
Prayers
People pray here for relief from burden of debts, for prosperity and peace in life. Devotees partake in the Annabishekam event. Women join the Deepa Pujas.
