Our Lady
of Mount Carmel Church is located at Ramapuram Village in Kanyakumari District
of Tamilnadu. The Church is nearly 150 years old. Almost all the residents of
this village are from same community, Nanjil Nattu Vellala Pillai. Though they
all were orthodox high
caste Hindus, families of Ramapuram were converted to Roman Catholic some 150 years ago. People still follow the culture and traditions of their Hindu counterparts.
Every
year the village celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The Church
celebrated its 125th year of existence in July 2017. The Church is located at
12 Kms from Nagercoil, 7 Kms from Suchindrum, 20 Kms from Kanyakumari and 82
Kms from Thiruvananthapuram. Nearest Railway Station is located at Nagercoil
and Nearest Airport is located at Thiruvananthapuram.
