Ponni Amman Temple is a Hindu Temple located at
Narasingam Pettai in Manjakkudi in Kudavasal Taluk in Thiruvarur District of
Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity Is called as Ponni Amman. Vembu and Iruvatchi (both without
flowers or fruits). The place was called as Narasimhapuram but now corrupted as
Narasingam Pettai.
History
It is believed that the temple could have been built
about 500 or 1000 years ago by some kings. It is situated amidst green
fields. The temple was just a shed year back. The villagers raised
funds and built the temple and celebrated the consecration in the year
2008.

Presiding Deity Is called as Ponni Amman. Vembu and
Iruvatchi (both without flowers or fruits). Presiding Deity Is called as Ponni

on the western side of the temple has a capacity to accommodate 50 persons. Lord
Harihara Puthran is facing west with his consorts Poornakala and Pushpakala. Veeran
is on the north side with the holy tree standing opposite.
Mother Ponni Amman facing west blesses from the Mahamandapam
with 10 pillars. Lord Vinayaka graces from a shrine in the inner prakara facing
north. People of this locality consider the deities with such respect and
devotion as their Kula Devatha. The consecration of the temple took place
in the year 2008. This is a very ancient temple believed to be older than
500 – 1000 years.

The Temple remains open from 7.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. and
from 4.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
Festivals
All the festivals related to Veeran (may be a custodian
deity of the place) and Amman are celebrated in the temple.
Prayers
Devotees pray here for wedding and child boon and
prosperity in life. Devotees offer new corns and goats as prayer commitment.

Narasingampettai is 18 km far from Thiruvarur on the Kumbakonam
road. The visitor must get down at Manjakkudi bus stop and proceed on the
bridge of Chola Choodamani river to reach the temple. The temple is near the
Manjakkudi Bus stop 1 Km north of the Chola Choodamani river and near the
Mrutyenjeswarar temple. The Temple is located at 4 Kms from Kudavasal, 10
Kms from Engan, 22 Kms from Thiruvarur, 14 Kms from Koradacherry and 110 Kms
from Trichy. Nearest Railway Station is located at Koradacherry and Nearest
Airport is located at Trichy.
