Nataraja Temple, Chidambaram – Halls (Sabhas)
The temple has many halls called Sabhas (lit.
"community gathering", also called Ambalams or Sabhais)
inside the complex. Two of these are the Chit Sabha and the Kanaka Sabha inside
the sanctum area of the Nataraja shrine. The other halls are outside the
sanctum area.
The Chidambaram temple is unique as it houses all the Pancha
Sabhas of Lord Shiva. They are;

Shatasila
Sabha:
Shatasila Sabha is a 100-pillared hall situated to the
northwest of the sanctum and south of the Devi shrine. It is badly damaged and
closed to public.
