Sadai Amman Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Goddess Sakthi located at Pudupet, well-known locality near Egmore in Chennai City in Tamil Nadu. This Sadai Amman temple is situated on Marshalls Road on the banks of river Koovam. The area where the Komaleeswarar Temple located is known as Komaleeswaranpet but commonly called as Pudupet.


This Sadai Amman is one of the 5 Sadai Amman temples built around Egmore. It is considered to house the biggest Sadai Amman among the others. Other Sadai Amman Temples are;

Legends
As per the legend, the original temple was inside the eye Hospital. The then British Superintendent felt that the temple was unnecessary and ordered to demolish. After the temple demolished, he lost his eye sight. By the best effort of the British doctors at that time he could not recover back his eye sight. It was told that he lost his eye sight because of the demolition of the Sadai Amman Temple. He got vision back after he built a new Sadai Amman Temple just outside the eye hospital. Sadai Amman manifested upon a devotee and asked to build 4 more Sakthi temples near this temple.


The Temple
The temple is facing north with an entrance arch over the Mukha Mandapam.  Presiding Deity is called as Sadai Amman. It houses huge Sadai Amman in the sanctum among the other Sadai Amman Temples. There are shrines for Navagrahas, Utsava Idols, Saptha Kannigas and Nagas in the Temple premises.

The temple remains open from 06.30 AM to 11.00 AM and 05.30 PM to 08.00 PM.

The Temple is located at about 250 meters from Pudupet Bus Stop, 1 Km from Egmore Railway Station, 2 Kms from Egmore Bus Stand, 2 Kms from Egmore Metro Station, 4 Kms from Chennai Central Railway Station, 10 Kms from Koyambedu Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus and 18 Kms from Chennai Airport. This temple is at the beginning of Seeyali street off Rukmani Lakshmipathy Saalai / Marshalls Road and opposite to MDMK’s headquarters.
