Amravaneswarar
Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Manthurai Village
in Trichy District of Tamilnadu. The temple has been widely expanded by Chola kings during the 11th century. The temple has
three tiered gateway tower and a tank. Since Shiva bestowed a deer with a
mango, this place is called Manthurai. Presiding Deity is called as Maanturaiappar
/ Mrugandeeswarar / Suthrathaneswarar / Aathirathneswarar / Amravaneswarar and
Mother is called as Azhagammai / Balambal.
It is
one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where the three of the most revered Nayanmars (Saivite Saints), Appar and Thirugnana Sambandar have glorified
the temple with their verses during the 7th-8th century. This shrine is
referred to as Vada Karai Manthurai in contrast to the Manthurai
near Tirumangalakudi, south of the Kaveri, which is a Sthalam referred to
in the Thevaram. Arunagirinathar has revered Murugan in this temple in his
verses in Thiruppugazh. This is the 112nd Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam
and 58th Sthalam on the northern side of river Cauvery of Chozha Nadu.
This
place is also called as Thirumaanthurai. The temple has six daily rituals at
various times from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and twelve yearly festivals on
its calendar. The Chittirai festival during the Tamil month of Chittirai (April
- May) is celebrated for fifteen days, portraying the various incidents
associated with the temple legend. The temple is maintained and administered by
the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamilnadu.

Singers
It is

Prayers
People
pray to Lord for their children facing Balagruha doshas (children affected with
adverse aspects of planets during their infancy years) performing milk abishek
to Mother for remedy. For relief from planetary adverse effects, they pray
in the Navagraha shrine. Devotees arrange abishek to Lord and Mother with
vastras.

The
Temple is located at about 4 Kms from Lalgudi, 22 Kms from Thiruvellarai, 12
Kms from Samayapuram, 12 Kms from Srirangam, 12 Kms from Thiruvanaikaval and 20
Kms from Trichy. Frequent town buses are available from Trichy. On the Trichy
Lalgudi road after crossing Valadi just before Lalgudi about 14 kms from the
toll gate look for the left turning to the temple it is about 500 metres away.
Nearest Railway Station is located at Manthurai at about 250 meters from the
Temple. Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
