The
Temple is located right in the middle of wilderness. The Temple is located at
about 15 Kms from Kadambathur, 20 Kms from Thiruvalangadu, 25 Kms from
Kancheepuram, 45 Kms from Thiruvallur and 60 Kms from Chennai. Other Paadal
Petra Shivasthalams near Ilambaiyangkottur are Thiruvalangadu (15 Kms), Thiruvirkolam
(10 kms), Thiruvenpakkam (35 kms), Thakkolam (10 kms) and Thirupachur (22 kms).
By Road:
This
village is about 25 kms from Kancheepuram town via Mahadevi
Mangalam. While going from Madras to Kancheepuram on the Bangalore highway
via Poonamallee, take a right after Chembarapakkam which reads
Perambakkam. Travel in the road, you will hit Koovam village. From Koovam
village, ask for Ilambaiyangkottur and locals will guide you through a small
narrow road in a very bad condition which goes around the Koovam lake to the
small village of Ilambaiyangkottur which is about 11 kms from there.
If going
from Chennai turn right at the Empee Distilleries after Sriperumbudur. Take the
Arakkonam road upto Koovam. Ilambaiyangkottur is about 11 kms from there. A
small concrete road from the center of the village leads to the temple which is
by the bank of the Coovum lake. Autos are available from Perambakkam. Buses
are available from Poonamallee in Chennai to Perambakkam. Autos can be hired
from this place to reach the temple.
