Adimoolanatha Perumal Temple, Vadapalani, Chennai
Adimoolanatha Perumal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu located at Vadapalani, well-known locality of Chennai City in Tamil Nadu. This is a small but beautiful temple dedicated for Lord Vishnu opposite to Vadapalani Murugan Temple, which remains unknown to the most of Chennai people. Presiding Deity is called as Adimoolanatha Perumal / Gajendra Varadaraja Perumal and Mother is called as Adi Lakshmi.


The Temple
This is a small Temple but comparatively older than Vadapalani Murugan Temple. Presiding Deity is called as Adimoolanatha Perumal / Gajendra Varadaraja Perumal. Sanctum houses the big idol of Adimoolanatha Perumal along with Sri Devi and Bhoo Devi. The deity is in the sitting posture. Garuda is found in a small shrine facing towards the main shrine.


The Utsava idols of Adimoolanatha Perumal with his two consorts and Andal are also found in the sanctum. Mother is called as Adi Lakshmi. She is found in a separate shrine in the corridor. The idol of Adi Lakshmi looks very attractive. There are shrines for Ramanujar and Manavala Mamunigal in the Temple premises.


Goddess Garba Raksha Ambal is beneath the Peepul-Neem tree in the Adhi Moola Perumal Temple Complex. The Goddess is supposed to guard the womb of pregnant women and help them in normal delivery Women and family members light Ghee lamp and worship the goddess.


Connectivity
The Temple is located at about 300 meters from Vadapalani Kovil Bus Stop, 600 meters from Vadapalani Metro Station, 1 Km from Vadapalani Bus Depot, 3 Kms from Kodambakkam Railway Station, 5 Kms from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus, Koyambedu, 11 Kms from Chennai Central Railway Station, 8 Kms from Egmore Railway Station and 11 Kms from Chennai Airport.
The Temple is in the heart of Chennai city with transport facilities from all corners. The Temple is situated on the road (Palani Andavar Koil Street, Vadapalani) leading to the Murugan Temple when you are coming from Arcot Road. Entrance to the temple is ducked in between the many flower shops on the road, you need to look for it or ask the people around. The temple is very near to Vadapalani bus stop and new Metro Railway station.
