Pamban Swamigal Temple, Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai
Pamban Swamigal Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Hindu religious
scholar Pamban Swamigal, located at Thiruvanmiyur, well-known locality of
Chennai City in Tamil Nadu. This Temple is the Jeeva Samadhi (Burial Place) of Pamban
Swamigal. Pamban Swamigal himself had earmarked the
Land here to be purchased for the Samadhi Temple before entering into Samadhi
State. The Temple is located very near to the entrance of Kala Kshetra, the
popular Bharthnatya School at Kala Kshetra Colony, Besant Nagar. The full
moon day celebration all through the night is very special.

The Temple
This Temple is dedicated to Sri Pamban Swamigal. The samadhi of Sri Pamban Swamigal is inside
this temple. The temple complex also has a temple of Sri Murugan. There is also another
Pamban Swamigal disciple samadhi in the premises. This Temple is one of
few places in Chennai which can be considered as ideal for meditation. It is
located in a serene and peaceful locality. The entire complex is surrounded by
a lot of trees and plants.
A Shiva Linga idol is installed on the Samadhi of
Swamiji. There is a big meditation hall, where a very big photograph of Swamiji
is placed. There is another small meditation center in the natural atmosphere
with the beach sand as the flooring. There is a shrine of Mayuranathar (the Utsava
idol of Murugan). Annadhanam is offered regularly for all on a
daily basis.
Temple Opening Time
The Temple remains open from 06.00 am to 01.00 pm & 03.00
pm to 08.00 pm.
Festivals
Mayura Vahana Sevana Vizha is celebrated every year in
the month of Margazhi (a day on which Swamiji received the Dharsan of peacocks
and Lord Muruga while he was in bed No. 11 in General Hospital, Madras). Pournami
pooja is being performed every month and it is believed that those attending it
would be cured of all ailments.

It is believed that those who attend Pournami pooja
would be cured of all ailments. The prevailing power of Pamban Swamigal and the
force behind him (Lord Muruga) would never relinquish his devotees.
