Kasi Viswanathar Temple,
Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai
Kasi Viswanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to
Lord Shiva located at Thiruvanmiyur, well-known locality of Chennai City in
Tamil Nadu. Siddhar Bala Ramalinga Nathar Jeeva Samadhi is situated inside the
Temple premises.
History
It was believed that the temple is more than 1000 years
old. Also, Siddhar Bala Ramalinga Nathar worshipped Lord Shiva Kasi Viswanathar
and attained Jeeva Samadhi at this place.
The Temple
Presiding Deity is called as Kasi Viswanathar. He is
housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. The Shiva Linga is of Swayambu and
Nandhi is in front Mandapam. Siddhar Bala Ramalinga Nathar Jeeva Samadhi is
situated in between Presiding Deity and Nandhi. The Kallala tree's roots
spread on both sides of the entire sanctum walls. The sanctum
was paved with granite stone slab without disturbing the Kallala tree's
roots.
Temple Opening Time
The temple remains open from 03.30 AM to 12.00 Noon and
03.00 PM to 05.30 PM.
Poojas
On Pournami days, special poojas are conducted three
times during night hours. The poojas are conducted by one of the
Siddhar Bala Ramalinga Nathar's disciple from Saidapet.
