Pandurangan Temple, Vadapalani, Chennai
Pandurangan Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord
Vishnu located at Vadapalani, well-known locality of Chennai City in Tamil
Nadu. The Temple is located very close to popular Vadapalani Andavar Temple. The
temple is a part of Pandurangan Ashram. Presiding Deity is called as Panduranga
or Vittala.
History
Actress Pandari Bai had built Sri Pandurangan temple
within the premise of her own house at Vadapalani in the year 1958 on a 4.5
ground plot. People began visiting the temple too. Pandari Bai told her husband
(Rama Rao) to hand over the temple to Udupi Sri Bejwara Mutt at a suitable time
as there would be nobody to take care of the temple after their demise. The
temple was handed over to the mutt on 22-3-2004 by Sri Rama Rao as per the wish
of Smt. Pandari Bai.
The Temple
The main sannidhi has the attractive idol of Pandurangan
along with Rukmini. Pandurangan idol has its customary charm as that of the
Pandurangan of Pandaripuram. Initially, this temple had only the shrine of Pandurangan.
However, now the temple also has the shrine of Raghavendra Brindavan too.
Hanuman, Garuda, Ganesha, Shiva Linga and Navagraha are the other idols that
are found in this temple.

This Temple is located in Pillaiyar Koil Street, located
very close to popular Vadapalani Andavar Temple. The
Temple is located at about 550 meters from Vadapalani Kovil Bus Stop, 850
meters from Vadapalani Metro Station, 1.5 Kms from Vadapalani Bus Depot, 3 Kms
from Kodambakkam Railway Station, 5 Kms from Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus,
Koyambedu, 11 Kms from Chennai Central Railway Station, 8 Kms from Egmore Railway
Station and 11 Kms from Chennai Airport. The Temple is in the heart of Chennai
city with transport facilities from all corners. The temple is very near
to Vadapalani bus stop and new Metro Railway station.
