Kanchipuram
is 69 Kms from Chennai and about 280 Kms from Bangalore. Among many other

By Road:
Kanchipuram
is most easily accessible by road. The Chennai – Bangalore National
Highway, NH 4 passes the outskirts of the city. Daily bus
services are provided by the Tamilnadu State Transport
Corporation to and from Chennai, Bangalore, Villupuram, Tirupathi, Thiruthani, Tiruvannamalai, Vellore, Salem, Coimbatore and Pondicherry. There are two major bus routes to Chennai, one
connecting via Guindy and the other via Tambaram. Local bus services are provided by The Villupuram
division of Tamilnadu State Transport Corporation.
By Train:
Kanchipuram
railway station serves as the principal railway station of the temple city
of Kanchipuram in Tamilnadu. The station is a part of the Chennai railway division
of the Southern Railway zone, one of the eight zones of the Indian
Railways and is coded
as CJ for official purposes. The Chengalpet – Arakkonam railway
line passes through Kanchipuram and travellers can access services to those
destinations. Daily trains are provided to Pondicherry and Tirupati, and
there is a weekly express train to Madurai and a bi-weekly
express train to Nagercoil. Two passenger trains from both sides of
Chengalpattu and Arakkonam pass via Kanchipuram.
The new
Kanchipuram Railway Station is located at the heart of the town on the Western
banks of the Ponneri Eri. It is in close proximity to the local bus stand. The
station is on the Arakkonam-Chengalpattu branch line which is a major route for local and suburban
traffic. Kanchipuram railway station is one of the stations in the Chennai Suburban Railway on the Chennai Beach-Tirumalpur route (South-West
line).
By Air:
The
nearest domestic as well as international airport is Chennai International Airport, located at a distance of 72 km from the city.
