Dhundubeeswarar Temple, Sengalipuram, Thiruvarur
Dhundubeeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Sengalipuram Village in Thiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. Presiding Deity is called as Dhundubeeswarar and Mother is called as Brihannayagi.

History
Dhundubeeswarar Temple, Sengalipuram was built by the Pallava king Nandivarman III in 850 CE and was called Thirukaleeswaram. Rajendra Chola commander Arayan Rajarajan defeated the Chalukya King Jayasimha and was given the name Jayasingakulakalan. The Cholas at that time renamed this village as Jayasingakulakala Puram which later got corrupted to Sengalipuram. The temple was converted to a stone structure by Saalikan Gouthaman Thillai Vanamudaiyan of the Kulothunga Chola time and inscribed his image in the stone here. Another inscription of 13th Century CE by Hoysala King Veerasomeswaran mentions this temple as Poompozhileeswaram.
The Temple
Presiding Deity is called as Dhundubeeswarar and is facing east. Mother is called as Brihannayagi and is facing south. Shrines for Vinayaka, Dakshinamurthy, Muruga, Sowbagya Durga, Chandikeswara, Navagraha, Chandran, Surya are located in the prakaram. The temple has been recently renovated and is well maintained. The temple also has a small Nandavanam inside with flowering shrubs.

Dhundubeeswarar Temple is located at about 4 Kms from Kudavasal. 20 Kms from Thiruvarur, 4 Kms from Simizhi, 2.5 Kms from Pudukkudi, 8 Kms from Engan, 16 Kms from Koradacherry and 113 Kms from Trichy. Nearest Railway Station is located at Koradacherry and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
