Pathangeeswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Palur Village in Chengalpattu Taluk in Chengalpattu District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Pathangeeswarar / Thirupathanga Mudaiyar / Thiruppatangadudaiya Mahadevar / Bala Pathangeeswarar and Mother is called as Brahmarambigai / Vandar Kuzhali. The temple is situated on the northern bank of river Palar.
Legends
As per legend, Lord Suryan (Sun) worshipped Lord Shiva of this temple to get rid of graha dosham as per the advice of Lord Vishnu. Lord Surya is also known as Pathangan. Hence, Lord Shiva of this temple came to be called as Pathangeeswarar and the place came to be called as Thirupathangadu. It is said that the temple tank Surya Pushkarini was created by Lord Surya during his worship here.

The temple remains open from 7.00 am to 10.00 am and 5.00
pm to 7.00 pm.

Connectivity
The Temple is located at about 750 metres from Palur
Railway Station, 12 Kms from Singapperumal Koil, 12 Kms from Chengalpattu Junction
Railway Station, 14 Kms from Chengalpattu, 12 Kms from Walajabad, 26 Kms from
Kanchipuram, 42 Kms from Chennai Airport and 64 Kms from Chennai. Palur is situated
on the Chengalpattu to Kanchipuram route. All the buses from Chengalpattu
to Kanchipuram and Walajabad passes through Palur. Lot of buses both private
and Government buses are available to reach Palur from Chennai, Chengalpattu,
Kanchipuram and Arakkonam. Trains running from Chennai Beach Station to Thirumalpur
passes through Palur.
