Aadhi Chokkanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple
dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Simmakkal to the North of Meenakshi Amman Temple
in Madurai City in Madurai District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as
Aadhi Chokkanathar and Mother is
called as Meenakshi. The Temple is believed to be 1000 years old. Of the 64
divine events (Tiruvilayadal) described in the sacred epic Tiruvilayadal
Puranam by Saint Paranjothi Munivar, this temple is about marking the boundaries
of Madurai.
The
place is also called as Vada Thiru
