Poola Nandeeswarar Temple,
Chinnamanur – The Temple
The Temple is facing east with
seven tiered Rajagopuram. Dwajastambam and Nandhi can be found facing the
sanctum and located immediately after the entrance. Presiding Deity is called
as Poola Nandeeswarar / Rajasimheswarar / Paalkondanadhar / Alavodu Aalanavar /
Thazhuva Kudaindavar. Lord is Swayambhu Moorthy with a cut scar. The great
marvel of the temple is that the Lord looks as tall as the view or bhakti of
the devotee. The symbol of an armour is seen on the body of the Lord showing
that a king embraced him once.
Mother is called as Shivagami.
She is housed in a separate shrine. Mother shrine is situated on the left side
of the temple premises. Mother Sivakami is seen with a
face ever sweating. Despite the number of times the decorations are changed,
the sweat on her face has to be wiped off before continuing with the
decorations.
There are shrines and idols of
Chandrasekarar, Karpakavinayakar, Gangalar, Subramanya Swamy, Dakshinamoorthy,
Durga, Kali, Bhairavar and Navagrahas in the temple premises. There is a
Nagalinga Tree in the Temple premises. Nagalinga flower from this Tree will
look like a Lingam covered by Adiseshan Hood. Sthala Vriksham is Poola Tree. Theertham
associated with this Temple are Surabi River and Shiva Ganga Theertham. Shiva
Ganga Theertham is situated in the Temple premises.
