Kasi Viswanathar Temple,
Komangalam, Cuddalore
Kasi Viswanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple
dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Komangalam Village near Virudhachalam Town in Virudhachalam Taluk in
Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kasi Viswanathar and Mother is
called as Kamakshi. The Temple is believed to be around 200 years old.
The Temple
This is an east facing temple,
but the main entrance is from south. Karpaga Vinayaga can be found immediately after the
entrance. Presiding Deity is called
as Kasi Viswanathar and is facing
east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Mother is called as Kamakshi. She is housed in a
separate east facing shrine. Her shrine is situated to the left side of the
sanctum.
Navagrahas Shrine is situated opposite to Mother Shrine.
There is a unique shrine for Vinayaga in south west corner of this Temple. He
is called as Vetri Vinayaga. This shrine is situated at an elevation similar to
Maadakoil Style Temples. There are shrines for Murugan, Vinayaga, Bhairavar,
Suryan and Chandran in the Temple premises. There is a Dyana Mandapam in the
Temple premises.

500 meters from Komangalam Bus Stop, 2 Kms from Kolanjiappar Temple, 5 Kms from
Virudhachalam, 5.5 Kms from Virudhachalam Bus Stand, 8 Kms from Virudhachalam
Railway Station, 69 Kms from Cuddalore, 126 Kms from Trichy Airport, 226 Kms
from Chennai Airport and 241 Kms from Chennai. The Temple is situated on
Virudhachalam to Salem Route.
