Alandhurai Eswarar Temple,
Kozhiyur, Cuddalore
Alandhurai Eswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to
Lord Shiva located at Kozhiyur Village in Thittagudi Taluk in Cuddalore
District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Alandhurai Eswarar and
Mother is called as Soundarya Nayagi / Azhagiya Kadhali Amman.
The Temple
This is an east facing temple with an entrance arch. The
Temple is completely in ruins. Presiding Deity is called as Alandhurai Eswarar and
is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Adhishtanam
and Prastaram of the sanctum were of granite construction. The Vimana over the
sanctum is of brick work. Vinayaga, Dakshinamoorthy, Maha Vishnu, Durga and
Brahma are the Koshta Idols located around the sanctum walls.
Mother is called as Soundarya Nayagi / Azhagiya Kadhali
Amman. She is housed in a separate east facing shrine. Her shrine is situated
to left side of the sanctum. There are shrines for Lord Murugan, Vinayaga,
Bhairavar and Chandran in the Temple premises. There is a big Lingam beneath
the Iruvatchi (Tuscan Jasmine) Tree.

The Temple is located at about 2 Kms from Thittagudi Bus
Stand, 3 Kms from Thittagudi, 14 Kms from Pennadam Railway Station, 30 Kms from
Virudhachalam, 90 Kms from Cuddalore, 102 Kms from Trichy Airport and 249 Kms
from Chennai. The Temple is situated on Thittagudi to Pennadam Route.
