Sundareswarar Temple, Mela Pazhuvur – The Temple
This is an east facing temple with 3 tiered Rajagopuram. Dwarapalakas can be found at the entrance of the Rajagopuram. The Temple is situated at about 3 feet below the ground level. Elephant, Kodimara Vinayaga and Dwajastambam can be found immediately after the Rajagopuram entrance facing the sanctum. The Sanctum Sanctorum consists of Mukha Mandapam, Ardha Mandapam and sanctum. Nandi and Balipeedam can be found in the Mukha Mandapam.





Dwarapalakas can be found at the entrance of the sanctum. Vinayagar can be found close to the right side Dwarapalaka. Presiding Deity is called as Sundareswarar. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. There is a circumbulatory passage around the sanctum similar to Thanjavur Big Temple and Kanchipuram Kailasanathar Temple. Mother is called as Meenakshi. She is housed in a separate south facing shrine.




Idols and shrines of Jamadagni Rishi, Surya, Urdhava Thandava Moorthy, Saptha Mathas (Brahmi, Maheshwari, Goumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Indrani, Chamundi) along with Agora Veerabhadra, Devikottai Mariyamman, Kadan Nivarthi Vinayagar, Lord Murugan with his consorts Valli & Deivanai, Gajalakshmi, Jyestha Devi, Chandikeswarar, Navagrahas, Vinayagar, Uma Maheswarar, Nagas, Rishabaroodar, Maha Vishnu, Bhairavar, Nataraja, Bala Dhandayudhapani and Saneeswarar in the inner prakaram around sanctum.
