Sivaloganathar Temple,
Vellappakkam, Cuddalore
Sivaloganathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to
Lord Shiva located at Vellappakkam Village in Cuddalore Taluk in Cuddalore
District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Sivaloganathar and Mother
is called as Shivagama Sundari. The Village was called as Vellalar Pakkam in
ancient times and got corrupted to Vellappakkam.
There are three temples in the area around Nellikkuppam that
denote Kailasa, Shivaloka and Bhooloka, the three places where Lord Shiva is
worshipped. They are;
The Temple
This Temple is facing towards east and covers an area of
about 2 acres. Nandi and Balipeedam can be found facing the sanctum. The
Sanctum Sanctorum consists of Sanctum and Maha Mandapam. Presiding Deity is
called as Sivaloganathar and is facing east. He is housed in the sanctum in the
form of Lingam. Brahma, Dakshinamoorthy and Lingodbhava are the Koshta Idols
located around the sanctum walls.
Chandikeswarar Shrine can be seen in his usual location.
Mother is called as Shivagama Sundari. She is housed in a separate south facing
shrine. Her shrine is situated on the Maha Mandapam. There are shrines for
Vinayagar, Lord Murugan with his consorts Valli & Deivanai, Nudhana Durga, Saneeswarar,
Mahalakshmi, Nagas, Navagrahas, Chandikeswarar, Bhairavar and Suryan in the
Temple premises.

Bus Stand, 14 Kms from Cuddalore Port Junction Railway Station, 18 Kms from
Panruti, 28 Kms from Puducherry, 31 Kms from Puducherry Airport, 171 Kms from
Chennai Airport and 179 Kms from Chennai. The Temple is situated on Cuddalore
to Panruti Route.
