History
This temple is situated at the junction of Palani Road
and Thadikombu Road. Some persons brought Amman statue from faraway places 100
years ago. The vehicle broke down and the idol was placed below a Neem tree.
After repairing the vehicle the persons tried to remove the idol from the place
but could not do so. Thereafter the goddess remains there and graces her
devotees. Neem tree is the Sthala Virutcham (holy tree) of this temple.
Vandi Kali Amman
Mother graces from the sanctum sanctorum to ensure
justice to all. A five hooded snake is above her head as an umbrella. She has
four hands. She is seated with her right leg bent while the left is
pressed on the ground. She holds Udukkai, snake, skull and a trident in her
hands.
As Kali is regarded as one to destroy evil and establish
justice, festivals to deities in other temple would be celebrated only after
pujas here. The mercy of Kali is such that she would pardon those
disrespecting her but not those causing harm to her devotees.
