Abhimuktheshwar Temple is dedicated to Hindu God
Shiva located at Kodaganallur in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. The main
deity Abhimuktheshwar faces west and Goddess Soundarya Nayaki in the standing
pasture facing south. The temple is located in a calm and serene atmosphere.
The temple was patronized by Kodaganallur Sri Sundara Swamigal in the
Appiah Dheekshidhar’s clan in the 18th century. This Temple is situated at the
western end of Kodaganallur.
The last Kumbabishekam for this temple was conducted
in the year 2000 by Mrs. Usha Viswanathan daughter of Thole kadai Subramanya
Iyer and Advocate Sri. K.S.Sivaraman. Kodaganallur is a village situated on
the banks of the river Tambiraparani. Kodaganallur is located about 23 Kms from
Thirunelveli on the Thirunelveli – Cheranmadevi state highway, 9 Kms from Cheranmahadevi, 14
Kms from Veeravanallur, 172 Kms from Madurai and 157 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram.
Nearest Railway Station is located at Cheranmahadevi and Veeravanallur. Nearest
Airport is located at Madurai and Thiruvananthapuram.
