Maannendhiappar Temple is dedicated to Hindu God
Shiva located at Kallidaikurichi in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. Kallidaikurichi
is located on the Southern bank of the river Thamirabarani. ‘Kal (rock) + idai (midst) + kurichi
(village)’ means, a village in the midst of hills and it is almost synonymous
with delicious Appalams (pappad). Presiding Deity is Swayambu Lingam known as
Sri Maannendhiappar with Vadivambikai Amman. Sage Kanvar got the darshan of
Lord Shiva here. The temple has two praharams and 6 worship services take place
daily. Theertham of the Temple are Kanva Theertham and Thamirabarani.
Kallidaikurichi is located on the Southern bank of
the river Thamirabarani at about 12 Kms West of Cheranmahadevi, 8 Kms from Veeravanallur,
4 Kms from Ambasamudram, 43 kms from Thirunelveli, 210 Kms from Madurai and 147
Kms from Thiruvananthapuram. The temple is located very close to the bus
stop. Nearest Railway Station is located at Ambasamudram. Nearest Airport
is located at Madurai and Thiruvananthapuram.
