Brihan Madava Perumal Temple (Periya Piran Temple), Kodaganallur, Thirunelveli
Brihan Madava Perumal Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Vishnu located at Kodaganallur Village in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. This Temple is also called as Periya Piran Temple. The village derives its name from the great snake - Karkodaga, mentioned in Hindu Puranas. There is also a unique puja done to Garudan for getting rid of the ill effects of poisonous bites. Lord Garudan here can be seen with Amrita Kalasha which can be seen in very few temples.
The Temple is located on the shores of the Thamirabarani (Tamirapani) River. This village is famous as it is the birthplace of many famous people – the holy Sri Sundara Swamigal and Sangitavidwans like Subbiah Bhagavatar.
