Ambaliswarar Temple, Nemili, Vellore
Ambaliswarar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord
Shiva located at Nemili Village near Thiruthani Town in Vellore District of
Tamilnadu. The Temple is situated
opposite to Nemili Vaikunda Vasa Perumal Temple. This is an ancient east facing
Chola Temple. Presiding Deity is called as Ambaliswarar and Mother is called as
Vadamalli. There are shrines of Nandheeswarar, Bhairavar and Ganesha in the
temple premises.
Thirukarthigai,
Maha Shivarathri, Thiruvadirai and Panguni Uthiram are the festivals celebrated
here with much fanfare. The Temple is located at about 6
Kms from Nallattur, 13 Kms from Thiruthani, 12 Kms from Thiruthani Railway
Station, 17 Kms from Nagari, 26 Kms from Arakkonam, 30 Kms from Nagalapuram, 90
Kms from Vellore, 85 Kms from Chennai and 85 Kms from Chennai Airport.
The Temple is situated on the Nagalapuram highway. While
driving through the Chennai-Tirupathi National Highway No.205, after Kanagama
Chathiram, before reaching Thiruthani, turn right along the temple that reads
"Kamatchiamman udanurai Choleeswarar" and the following nameboard
will guide to Nemili. There comes a junction where one can find this nameboard
to have diversion to Nemili. Take the right-side road and travel around 7
km to reach Nemili temple.
Take train to Thiruthani (Sapthagiri Exp / Tirupathi
Exp). From Thiruthani, buses every half hour to Nemili (Nagalapuram route). Bus
Nos. 127 and T7 (Chevada route). Private bus operator Bharathi also runs bus
services from Thiruthani (takes about 20mts-30mts).
