Vaideki Falls, Coimbatore
Vaideki
Falls is a waterfall situated in
the outskirts of Coimbatore city about
35 km (22 mi) from Coimbatore. It is located at a distance of 23 Kms
from Perur. The nearest village is Narasipuram. This waterfall used to be
called "Tholayira Murthi Kandi", in Tamil Tholayiram stands for the
number nine hundred, word Murthy has several interpretations, one is The Lord,
another means Manifestation. Kandi is the word for (water) fall. The waterfall
derives the present name after the movie "Vaithegi Kathirunthal" by
director R. Sundarrajan. The location is
now a popular tourist spot in the City of Coimbatore. It is not well connected with
good transport facilities. Nowadays visitors are not allowed due to disturbance
from wild animals.
This falls is
located near Narasipuram village near Thondamuthur, Coimbatore. There is direct
bus from Coimbatore Bus Stand to Narasipuram (1hr drive). From Narasipuram you
need walk a couple of kms to reach this Vaidehi falls. This Waterfall is named
after the evergreen Tamil movie 'Vaidehi Kathirunthal'. This falls was pictured
in that movie. Beware of broken beer bottles around this falls.

Vaidehi Falls comes
under forest jurisdiction; you will need permission from the concerned
authorities before venturing here. These falls are a popular destination for
picnickers and trekkers. However, if you are trekking into this forested are,
it is advised that you ask for the help of forest guards since there are many
wild animals here. The ideal time to make a trip to these falls is between 8am
and 5.30pm since there are wild elephants here which come out once darkness
envelops the region.
It falls under the
forest jurisdiction and hence proper permission is to be sought from the
concerned authorities before entering this area. Since there are plenty of wild
animals, it is advised that visitors take the assistance of forest guards and
go along with them for safe passage and return. It involves quite a distance of
walking inside the jungle in order to reach this beautiful place of interest.
The falls is very beautiful and has a naturally formed slope.
About 5 Kms trek
through forest is required to reach the falls from nearest road point. One can
get private vehicles to reach forest trek point from Narasipuram town.

Vaidehi Falls is
one of the most popular tourist attractions around Coimbatore, especially for
trekkers. The forest is dense and verdant and the misty mountains add to the
beauty of the place. The forest is home to many medicinal plants and herbs. As
you make your way through the forest, you can hear birds calling out to each
other. As you approach the falls you can hear its thunderous roar piercing the
silence of the forests.
Visitors enjoy
sliding into the pool of water here. There are many rocks from where one can
enjoy this thrilling slide! You could almost feel like you are in a theme park
– but this is much better as you are surrounded by the wild beauty of nature.

exactly located towards Western Ghat region, approximately 35 kms from
Coimbatore city. Consent from forest authorities is required before entering
this area as Vaideki Falls is managed by Forest Jurisdiction. The waterfall is
located in wildlife vicinity it is advisable to take help from forest guards
and authorities to ensure safe visit.

the Vaideki Falls is summer on weekdays during 08:00 am to 05:30 pm.

By Road: Private buses or vehicles can be utilized to reach Vaideki Falls,
as it is only 35 kms from Coimbatore. The city is well connected to Narasipuram
village.
