Mayil
Uthu Falls are located in the Perambalur district of the south Indian state of
Tamilnadu. These falls enhance the beauty of the Eastern Ghats in the state.
Mayil Uthu Falls are in close proximity to the town of Esanai, i.e. at a
distance of 18 kilometers. These falls form a part of the three waterfalls of
the Pachai Malai Hills i.e. Mangalam Aruvi, Mayil Uthu Falls and Koraiyar
Falls. Several tribes are seen dwelling in the vicinity of these hills. Amongst
them, popular ones are the Malayalis, who sell their surplus agriculture
produce in the townships.
The Mayil Oothu Falls at the Pachai Malai Hills near
Ladapuram will be getting a lot of water during monsoon showers. Though the
falls remains dry for the major part of the year, a sharp spell of rain is
sufficient to rejuvenate it and attract tourists for a couple of months from
late October or early November. Although a person can drive up to a hamlet in
the vicinity of the hills, he has to trek for some distance along a narrow
path. This falls located very close to Ladapuram Village.
Ladapuram has 2 main falls one is mayilootru and another
one is yanaikatti falls. In local language mayil means peacock it has this name
because rock looks like peacock from where the water is falling. Same
applies for Yanaikatti falls, Yanai means Elephant in Tamil. It has this name
because rock looks like elephant from where the water is falling.
Koraiyar

Koraiyar Falls are located in the Perambalur district of the south Indian state
of Tamilnadu. These falls enhance the beauty of the Eastern Ghats in the state.
Karaiyar Falls are in close proximity to the town of Thondamanthurai. Several
small streams originate from the Koraiyar falls, to join the River Vellar down
below. Several tribes are seen dwelling in the vicinity of these hills.
