Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is a temple dedicated to Hindu god Vinayagar, situated near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The temple is situated about 12 km from the city of Coimbatore on NH 209. Vinayaga Chathurthi is celebrated at this temple with pomp and pride. And his birth day falls on the Avani month of Tamil (August – September).

This temple has a history that dates back to 1500 A.D. The last Kumbabishekam was conducted 18 years back in the year 1990. Ganesh Chathurthi is celebrated here for ten days with huge many thronging this temple from all over the state.

The temple will be open from 5 am to 10 pm. The whole family can take part in the special offerings on special days like Chathurthi, Amavasya, Poornima and Karthika. Though open on all days throughout the year, the best time to visit the Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is during the Hindu festivals like Vinayaka Chathurthi, Thaipusam, Saraswathi Pooja, Deepavali, Tamil New Year Day and Karthika Deepam when offerings like Homam, Abishekam, Alangaram, and Deepaaradhanai are done here.

Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is also known for its special vahana pooja conducted on new vehicles. As Lord Vinayaga is considered as the obstacle remover, a lot of devotees bring their vehicles here.

Mahalakshmi Temple can also be visited while at Eachanari.

Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is easily accessible by vehicles from Coimbatore.

History

It is said that when the idol of Vinayaga measuring 6 feet high and 3 feet in diameter was being transported from Madurai in a cart for installation at Perur Patteeswarar Temple, the axle of the cart broke & Efforts to remove the idol to Perur did not materialize and it became seated in the place where the temple was constructed.

Hence the Vinayagar in this place is called as “Eachanari Vinayagar”, one of the famous Vinayaga of whole Tamilnadu. Built in 1500 AD, Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is one of the oldest pilgrimage centers dedicated to Lord Vinayaga.

The idol at the Eachanari Vinayagar Temple is one of the largest ones and measures up to 6 ft in height. Inscriptions at the temple confirm that the idol was brought in from Madurai and was originally meant for the Perur Patteeswarar temple.

Worship Time

This Temple is opened at 5am everyday and is closed at 10pm without any break of worship time. Everyday “Ganapathy Homam” is performed by Kattalaitharars as on date 350 Kattalaitharars for “Ganapathy Homam” regularly performed each day.

For performing “Ganapathy Homam Pooja", the Kattalaitharars has to pay Rs.15, 000/- that amount will be deposited and the interest accured on deposit will be utilized the “Ganapathy Homam” Pooja every year as requested by the Kattalaitharars.

Nakshtra Abishegams & Alankarams

Every day, Nakshatra Abishegams and Alankarams is performed from Aswini to Revathy 27 Nakshatras. Alankaram for Nakshatra vary as for the particular Nakshatra, for particular Alankarams. Devotees offer Nakshatra Abishegams and Alankarams every day. That is the Special feature of this temple.
