Thiru Nageswarar Temple is dedicated to Hindu God Shiva located at Nanguneri in Thirunelveli District of Tamilnadu. This place is about 32 kms from Thirunelveli. This temple is close to Vanamamalai Perumal temple. The temple is with a single prakaram. A big Pushkarani can be seen in front of the temple. Main Deity is Swayambu Lingam known as Thiru Nageswarar and his consort Sivakami Ammai. Murugan appears in single face with four hands in standing posture along with peacock in this Temple. Arunagiri Nathar sang Thirupugazh on Lord Subramanyar of this place. One can come out of severe Sarpa Dosha by conducting pooja here.
As per Tamirabarani Mahatmiyam, five important Shiva temples in Tirunelveli region were considered as Pancha Aasana Sthalams. This Temple is considered to be part of Pancha Aasana Sthalams of Thirunelveli District.

The temple is located at the centre of the Nanguneri town near to Vanamamalai Perumal Temple. Nanguneri is located at about 14 Kms from Valliyur, 16 Kms from Thirukkurungudi, 32 Kms from Thirunelveli, 190 Kms from Madurai and 130 Kms from Thiruvananthapuram. All buses from Thirunelveli to Nagercoil pass through Nanguneri. Buses are available for every 10 minutes between Thirunelveli and Nagercoil (Nanguneri can be reached within 45 minutes from Thirunelveli bus stand). Kanyakumari Exp and Ananthapuri Express from Chennai stop at Nanguneri station. Nearest Railway Station is located at Valliyur and Nanguneri. Nearest Airport is located at Madurai and Thiruvananthapuram.
