Thirunokkiya Azhagiyanathar Temple, Thiruppachethi, Sivaganga

Thirunokkiya Azhagiyanathar Temple is a Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Thiruppachethi Town in Thiruppuvanam Taluk in Sivaganga District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding deity is called as Thirunokkiya Azhagiyanathar / Vanmeeganathar / Parijathavaneswarar / Chakravartheeswarar / Lakshmi Varada Sundareswarar and Mother is called as Marunokkum Poonguzhali. The temple is situated on the southern bank of Vaigai river.

History

The temple is believed to be built in 7th century CE by the Pandyas. The temple is under the administrative control of Sivagangai Samasthanam Devasthanam.

Temple Opening Time

The temple remains open from 07.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon. and 05.00 p.m. to 08.00 p.m.

Festivals

Masi Maha Shivarathri (Feb-Mar) and Margazhi Thiruvadhirai (Dec-Jan) are the festivals celebrated here with much fanfare.

Prayers

Devotees pray here for reunion of estranged couples, marriage alliances, child boon, wealth, prosperity, relief from diseases (stomach ailments, skin diseases & rheumatism), relief from brahmahatya dosha and relief from Sani dosha.

Connectivity

The temple is located at about 500 metres from Thiruppachethi Railway Station, 1 Km from Thiruppachethi Bus Stand, 12 Kms from Thiruppuvanam, 18 Kms from Manamadurai, 24 Kms from Sivaganga, 33 Kms from Madurai, and 39 Kms from Madurai Airport. The temple is situated on Madurai to Manamadurai route. Buses from Madurai to Manamadurai, Paramakudi, Ramanathapuram, and Rameswaram pass through Thiruppachethi. The temple is situated very close to Thiruppachethi Bus Stand.
