Maha Kali Amman Temple is located 200 meters to the East of the Arulmigu
Ramanathaswamy Temple. Ujjaini Maha Kali Amman a fierce avatar of Goddess
Parvathy is believed to be one of the protectors of Rameswaram who protects it
from evil and dark forces. Navarathri is celebrated at this temple in a grand
manner of which Navarathiri's last day worship by walking on fire deserves
mention.
This
Temple is situated on the shores of Agni theertham. It is believed by the
Rameswaram people that Ujjaini maha kali is one of the 10 protecting gods
of Rameswaram Island. Ujjaini Maha Kali Amman Temple is located to the East of
the famed Arulmigu Ramanathaswamy Temple. Kanchi Sankara Mutt lies to the North
of this temple across the road and Agni Theertham is adjacent to the temple on
its East.
