During Tipu sultan’s period goddesses Thandu Mariamman appeared on
one of Tipu sultan’s soldier’s dream. Goddesses said she has been living in a
particular place for a long period. That place was a forest and the very next
day the soldier went to that place and find Arulmigu Thandumariyaman beside a
neem tree.
Amazed on seeing goddesses he showed this miracle to his countrymen.
One fine day after a long struggle he built a temple for Thandu Mariamman. Soon
the news spread all over and she was worshipped as Arulmigu Thandu Mariamman.
The present temple is more than 300 years old.
