Kailasanathar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located at Vaiyur Village near Chidambaram Town in Cuddalore District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar and Mother is called as Parvathi. The Temple is situated on banks of Pazhaya Kollidam River. The Temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns had a mention about this Temple.

The Temple
Presiding Deity is called as Kailasanathar. He is housed in the sanctum in the form of Lingam. Mother is called as Parvathi. She is housed in a separate shrine. There are shrines for Mariamman, Vinayagar and Murugan in the Temple premises. The Temple follows Shivagama Tradition. One Kala Pooja is performed in this Temple.

Festivals
Monthly Pradoshams and Masi Maha Shivaratri are the festivals celebrated here.

The Temple is considered as Thevara Vaippu Sthalam as Devaram hymns sung by Sambandar had a mention about this Temple. The Temple is mentioned in 2nd Thirumurai in 39th Patikam in 1st Song.

The Temple is situated on National Highway NH 32 connecting Chidambaram with Nagapattinam. Take any bus plying in this route and get down at Velakudi Bus Stop. The Temple can be reached easily from this Bus stop through Autos.
