Rajagopala Swamy Temple, Komal – Legends
Brahma Mohanam:
As per legend, Lord Brahma was jealous of noticing the
closeness of Lord Krishna to the cowherd boys in Brindavan. He could not able
to digest the friendship between the cowherd and Lord Shiva. So, Lord Brahma
stole all the cows and the boys and kept them in Brahma Loka. Knowing the act
of Lord Brahma, Lord Krishna decided to teach him a lesson. He took the form of
cows, calves and the boys that were hidden by Lord Brahma in Brahma Loka. On
the seeing the power of creation of Lord Krishna, Brahma realized his mistake
and begged forgiveness at the feet of Lord Krishna.
He also restored all the cows, calves and the boys that
he had hidden in the Brahma Loka. Brindavan is now overpopulated with the cows
as the Brahma restored the original cows in addition to the cows created by
Lord Krishna. To avoid the over population, it is said that Lord Krishna
transported the Gokula cows and the Gopala cows to the southern and northern
halves of Komal
and tended to them in this
village.
Lakshmi, Saraswathy & Parvathi took human forms
here:
As per legend, when goddess Lakshmi, Saraswathy and
Parvathy took human forms in Komal
to personally experience the lives of the normal human beings. It is said that
they took this form to show us that one can overcome the Karma e by suffering
through problems.
Krishna took the form of Gopala to assist Parasakthi:
As per legend, Mother Parvathy took the form of cow in Komal to have darshan of Lord Shiva in Jyoti form. Mother Parvathy was accompanied by Lord Vishnu in the form of cowherd in her quest.
