Thanthondreeswarar Temple is a
Hindu Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in Asur Village in Kumbakonam
Taluk in Thanjavur District of Tamil Nadu. Presiding Deity is called as Thanthondreeswarar
and Mother is called as Annapoorani. The Temple is situated on the southern
banks of Manniyaru River.
The Temple
The Temple is facing towards
east. The Temple is in dilapidated state. The Sanctum
Sanctorum consists of Maha Mandapam, Artha Mandapam and Sanctum. Presiding
Deity is called as Thanthondreeswarar and is east facing. He is housed in the
sanctum in the form of Shiva Lingam. Mother is called as Annapoorani.
She is housed in a separate
south facing shrine. She is about 5 feet tall. Her Shrine is situated in Maha
Mandapam. Only walls of the Maha Mandapam remains. A Linga can be found at the
entrance of the sanctum. Dakshinamoorthy can be seen in the Koshta. There is a
big pond in front of the Temple.

Route.
