Pine Forest – 1
Apart from Shola trees and Eucalyptus trees, there is
lot of Pine trees found across many parts of Kodaikanal. However, only two
sites have become popular among the tourists as the travel destination. As
there are two pine forests, the local people call them as Pine Forest 1 and
Pine Forest 2.
Pine Forest 1 is located on the observatory road near
the Solar Observatory. This Pine Forest is comparatively crowded with the
tourists. A lot of local vendors selling fresh carrots and fruits can be found
at the entrance of the forest.
Pine Forest – 2
Pine Forest 2 is located near Moir Point. Pine
Forest 2 is generally not crowded like Pine Forest 1. It is unusual to find the vendors in this forest. The
horse riding options are available here. Thus, this place is more attractive
than Pine Forest 1.
Activities

the tourists. It is said that the British Forest Officer H.D.Bryant planned and
planted the pine trees across Kodaikanal in the early years of 20th century CE.
