Andankoil Swarnapureewarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva located in the village of Andankoil in Valangaiman Taluk of Thiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. The old name of Kudamurutti River is Kaduvaai; hence this was called as Kaduvaikaraiputhur. Presiding Deity is called as Swarnapureewarar and Mother is called as Swarnambikai / Sivasekari. The Saivite saint Thirunavukkarasar has sung praises of the temple in his Thevaram Hymns. This is the 214th Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 97th Sthalam on the south side of River Cauvery in Chozha Naadu.

The Temple
The temple has a five tiered Rajagopuram. A beautiful pond is located on the left side before the entrance. Vinayagar and Murugan sannidhis are located on both sides of the entrance. Kodi maram, Nandi and Bali Peedam are located after the entrance. On the left of the all vahanas are present inside a gated mandapam. The level where the gods are situated is a couple of feet higher than the temple level. God and Goddess are at an ever higher ground.












Presiding Deity is called as Swarnapureewarar and Mother is called as Swarnambikai / Sivasekari. The rays of Sun fall on Lord in sanctum sanctorum on Chithirai 11, 12 and 13 in April-May, when special Surya pujas are performed in the temple. Lord is Swayambumurthy. Thirisoola Gangai is the name of the temple pond. Sthala Vriksham is Vanni. The Vinayaka of the temple is praised as Kumbakarna Vinayaka blessing the devotees.











Temple Opening Time
The temple is open from 8.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. and from 5.00 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.
Festivals
Maha Shivarathri in February-March; Margazhi Tiruvadhirai in December-January and Panguni Uthiram in March-April are the festivals celebrated in the temple.

Prayers
Devotees pray for child boon. It is believed that girls having a bath in the place and lighting lamps in the shrine of Lord Shiva would attain puberty if the same is delayed unduly after the proper age.

The Temple is situated on the bus route from Kumbakonam to Kudavasal via Valangaiman. Nearest Railway Station is located at Kumbakonam and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
