Karavera Nathar Temple, Karaveram, Thiruvarur
Karavera Nathar Temple is a Hindu
temple located at Karaveram Village in Thiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. The presiding deity is Shiva called as
Karavera Nathar / Brahmapureeswarar. Mother is called as Pratyakasha Minnammai.
Unmarried women pray at the temple in order to get married. This Temple is also
called as Brahmapureeswarar Temple. This place is called as Karaiyapuram / Vadakandam
/ Thiru Karaveeram. Sambandar, Sundarar and Thiru Navukkarasar have sung hymns in praise of the temple. This is
the 208th Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 91st Sthalam on the
south side of River Cauvery in Chozha Naadu.

The
Temple
The temple is facing east without Rajagopuram. Lord
Shiva in the temple is a Swayambumurthy. Presiding Deity is called as Karavera
Nathar / Brahmapureeswarar. Mother is called as Pratyakasha Minnammai. Moola
Lingam, the Ambal and the temple itself are all big in size. Both Moolavar and
Ambal are facing east. Moolavar Vimanam is little taller like Rajagopuram.
Sthala Vriksham is Sevvarali - Red flower plant. Theertham is Anavaradha Theertham
/ Brahma Theertham. Vinayaka of the temple is praised as Lord Raja Ganapathy. It
is considered sacred for the ladies to water the Sthala Vriksham Pon Alari and
worship Brahmapureeswarar on New Moon days.

Opening Time
The temple is open from 6.00 a.m. to 12.00 a.m. and from
5.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
Festivals
Every new moon day is a festival day in the temple.
Also, Margazhi Tiruvadhirai in December-January; Maha Shivarathri in
February-March and Panguni Uthiram in March-April are grandly celebrated in the
temple.
Singers
The shrine is praised by the three celebrated Saivite
Saints, Sambandar, Thirunavukkarasar and Sundarar. This is the 208th
Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 91st Sthalam on the south
side of River Cauvery in Chozha Naadu.
Prayers
On new moon days, women water the Sthala Vruksha –
sacred tree near the Samadhi of Sage Gautama and worship Lord Brahmapureeswarar
then in the hope that their marriage would be materialized before next new moon
day. Devotees stay in the temple for a night and worship the Lord next day
to overcome various hardships they face in life. Realizing their wishes,
devotees perform abishek to Lord offering vastras.

Connectivity
The Temple is located at about 9 Kms from Thiruvarur, 2
Kms from Thirukkannamangai, 34 Kms from Kumbakonam and 113 Kms from Trichy. Karaveeram
is located on Thiruvarur - Kumbakonam route. The devotee has to get down at
Vadakandam Bus Stop to reach the temple. Vadakandam Bus Stop is around
half a Kilometer from Temple. Nearest Railway Station is located at Thiruvarur
and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
