Kalarmulainathar Temple (Parijatha Vaneswarar Temple) is a Hindu temple located at Thirukkalar in the Tiruvarur District of Tamilnadu. The presiding deity of the temple is Shiva. Praises of the temple have been sung by the Saivite saints Sambandar and Thirunavukkarasar in the Thevaram. This is the 222nd Thevaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 105th Sthalam on the south side of river Cauvery. Presiding Deity is called as Parijatha Vaneswarar / Kalarmulainathar. Mother is called as Amirthavalli / Ilankombannal. Sthala Vriksham is Parijatham. Theertham of this temple are Durvasa, Gnana, Brahmma and Rudra Theertham.

The Temple
The temple is east facing and has an 80 feet high 5 tiered Rajagopuram. Presiding Deity is called as Parijatha Vaneswarar / Kalarmulainathar. Lord of the temple is a Swayambumurthy. Mother is called as Amirthavalli / Ilankombannal. There is a separate sannidhi for Ambal and facing east. Sthala Vriksham is Parijatham. Theertham of this temple are Durvasa, Gnana, Brahmma and Rudra Theertham.


Other than these main deities, the temple has sub shrines of Gods Muruga Valampuri Vinayaka, Somaskanda, God Viswanatha, Chandrasekharar, Dakshinamurthy, Navagrahas, Chandran, Vishnu, Brahma, Vishwakarma worshiped Shiva Lingams, Moshatruvareswarar, Somaskandar, Sthala Vinayagar, Natarajar and Chandikeswara. Other small shrines include that of Goddesses Gajalakshmi, Mahalakshmi, Ashta Puja Durgai, 63 Saivite Nayanmars and Sage Agasthya.


The idol of Goddess Durga is quite splendid as she sits in a sitting position on her lion vehicle and is located in outer mandapam. There is another shrine of God Akora Veerabhadra which faces towards the West direction. Tirukoyilur mutt ‘s 5th Pontiff had initiated Veda patasala, Thevara patasala, Agama Patasala and Chariot for this temple. Performing Panchakshara Japam at this place is considered to yield many folded results.

The temple remains open from 7.00 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. and 6.00 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
Festivals
Chithirai Brahmotsavam festival on Chitra star day in April-May; Vaikasi Visakam in May-June; Navarathri in September-October; Skanda Sashti in October-November; Margazhi Sashti, Arudra Darshan and Nama Shivaya Panchakshara Mantra initiation on Sadayam Star day (3 festivals) in December-January are the festivals celebrated in the temple.
Singers
This is the 222nd Devaram Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalam and 105th Sthalam on the south side of River Cauvery in Chozha Naadu. The temple is praised by Saints Thirugnana Sambandar and Thirunavukkarasar in their Thevaram hymns. 
Prayers
It is the faith of the devotees that if one prays to Lord here, it will ensure the salvation of all members of his/her family. Those afflicted by adverse aspects of Ketu-serpent planet- pray here for relief. Devotees perform abishek to Lord and offer vastras.

Connectivity
Thirukkalar is located at about 5 Kms from Thiruppattur, 7 Kms from Kottur, 13 Kms from Thiruthuraipoondi, 22 Kms from Mannargudi, 35 Kms from Thiruvarur and 114 Kms from Trichy. Thirukkalar is located on Mannargudi – Thiruthuraipoondi Route. This Shivastalam is located to the North West of Thiruthuraipoondi on the southern bank of the river Pamani.
In the Mannargudi – Thiruthuraipoondi, 2 kms after Kottur Mani Ambalam Paadal Petra Sthalam towards Thiruthuraipoondi, there is a diversion to Thirukkalar at Thiruppattur. Further 5 kms on that road will take us to the temple. Town mini buses are available from Thiruthuraipoondi. Nearest Railway Station is located at Thiruthuraipoondi and Nearest Airport is located at Trichy.
