VOC Park and Zoo, Coimbatore

VOC Park and Zoo
V O Chidambaranar park and zoo (abbreviated VOC park) is a zoological garden and amusement park located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. As of 2013, the park houses around 890 animals including 335 birds, 106 mammals and 54 reptiles.

The park is named after freedom fighter V O Chidambaram Pillai and is managed by Coimbatore city Corporation.
VOC Zoological Park in Coimbatore which is right in the heart of the city – perhaps a 20 minute walk from the main bus terminus in Gandhipuram would take you there. The Nehru Stadium is right opposite to this park.

The V.O.C Zoo is quite a small Zoo when you compare with the Chennai or Thiruvananthapuram Zoo’s. But, if you want to spend time quickly without traveling much from the center of the city, this is a good option!
Park and Grounds
There is a park; children's play area and ground associated with the zoo. The park also has a toy train, Jurassic park and aquarium. The grounds are used for conducting fairs and events including the annual Independence Day and Republic day celebrations.

The park has over 200 species of trees including Sandalwood. Quite next to the zoo, there is this V.O.C Park which is a nice little park to move around and take some rest / catch up with a conversation.
Near the VOC Park, there is a children’s park and even a roller skating ground. So, if you are near Gandhipuram/ Stadium and you want to spend some quality time without going too far, the V.O.C Park and zoo might be a very good option.
