Moir Point is located at the entrance of the forest that extends to the beautiful Berijam Lake. It is one of the important view-points in Kodaikanal. The site is named after Sir Thomas Moir who began the construction of the Goschen Road in 1929 CE. This road joins the Kodaikanal - Berijam Lake here. There is a monument mentioning this stands in this site.











Moir Point is one of highly crowded places in Kodaikanal thanks to the best views of the valleys offered from here. People who enter into Berijam Lake area do not miss this scenic view-point.








Location 
It is located at a distance of 10 km from Kodaikanal Bus Station and 3 km from Pillar Rocks, Moir Point is a historic place and beautiful view point in Kodaikanal on Berijam Lake road. Moir Point is located close to the entry point of the famous Berijam Lake Road. Lying at a short distance from Kodaikanal, tourists can easily change their route to reach Moir Point.





Description
Offering a marvelous view of the valley, Moir Point has always remained a hot spot for the travelers. Located at a place where Sir Thomas Moir had cut the first grass to build the Goschen Road, Moir Point was called as Fort Mile Road till 1929. This place is also regarded as significant because of its history. Entry of unauthorized people is prohibited at the forest check point. This point offers a bird’s view point of the hills and the villages that surround the area.





Activity 
Being a calm and peaceful place, Moir Point offers its visitors an ideal ambiance to relax and rejuvenate. A place of interest for photography enthusiasts, this area offers beautiful views. In addition to this, tourists can also visit the famous Kodaikanal Golf Club to enjoy a game of golf. By paying a nominal fee, non members are also allowed entry into the club. Nature lover can visit the nearby lakes, such as Berijam Lake or the Kodai Lake, to enjoy a dazzling sunset view.




A scenic view point over cliffs. Also the site of a monument mentioning Sir Thomas Moir, who "turned the first sod" (beginning construction in 1929) of the "Goschen Road" (completed by 1932) which joins the Kodaikanal - Lake Berijam road here. The "Goschen Road" served the villages of Poombarai and Kukkal northwest of this place. Extensions to Mannavanur (junction), and Kavunji, together with a connecting road to Berijam Lake from near Kavunji, created a loop of about forty miles length - the "Forty Mile Round".  There is a small park developed at this spot with a monument.






The park near the Moir Point was recently upgraded making it more attractive. This is a major tourist spot and attracts lot of crowd. There are several shops selling the basic needs. It is adjacent to the main road towards Berijam Lake and easily accessible.
